Halmstad is next!

We have the pleasure to present Renhållningsbolaget in Halmstad - our latest customer. The business includes waste combustion with energy production, treatment of sludge from washing establishments as well as collection and transportation of waste within the municipality of Halmstad, on the Swedish west coast. The district heating plant is situated at Kristinehed approx. 3,5 km Northeast of the centre of Halmstad. The energy produced is supplied to the district heating system of the municipality of Halmstad. The waste fractions stands for approx. 55 % of the annual demands of energy. The plant includes two identical waste incinerators, both having a capacity of 5 t/h, which at a calorific value of approx. 11 MJ/kg gives a heat output of 13 MW.

In order to reduce the emissions of nitrogen oxides in the flue gas, a SNCR system with urea has been in operation. The results have not been satisfactory, such as moderate NOx -reduction and corrosion problems on the wall tubes, and therefore Halmstad has decided to install an Ecotube-system in each boiler. The installations will take place during the summer shut-down 1998 and the two systems are expected to be in full operation during October.
