Excellent Emission Reduction on Coal Fired Boiler in Paris

During 2008 we announced our first installation of an Ecotube System on a coal fired boiler located in St Ouen in the suburbs of Paris. This project has been a great challenge for us. The unit produces 270 MWth, supplied mainly as steam to the district heating system. The Ecotubes installed are 9m long and hang “freely” inside the furnace. The length of the Ecotubes meant a new internal design had to be developed and implemented. A new and more effective cleaning system of the Ecotubes was developed for the project. Flue Gas Recirculation or “FGR” was also included in the scope. The Ecotubes were designed to inject and evenly distribute a solution of urea to further reduce emissions of NOx. This combination of Ecotubes together with FGR and urea has resulted in a reduction of NOx of over 70%. The high reduction level obtained enabled ECOMB AB to meet and exceed guaranteed reduction levels. The plant now meets the new 200 mg NOx/Nm3 requirement to be implemented by the EU in 2013 for coal fired units.
